Unable to resolve chat model with family selection: gpt-4.1 #1414
Description
I'm using Spec Kit but I'm frequently seeing VS Code have this error.
I use Github Copilot Pro+. The last few days this happens a lot. I wish I could specify a different model and then fallbacks.
I prefer these models:
- GPT-5.2
- GPT-5.1-Codex-Max
- Claude Sonnet 4.5
- Claude Sonnet 4
- Gemini 3 Pro (Preview)
- Gemini 2.5 Pro
If there was a way to provide a list of fallbacks that would be great.
When I start seeing this error, restarting VS Code doesn't fix the issue. If I wait a few minutes and retry it works again for a while.
Over the last week this happened at least a dozen times.
