This is a common issue with GitHub Education verification. The error message explicitly states that GitHub's database sees your school email linked to an existing student benefit record. Even if you believe you only have one account, it is very common to have created a secondary account years ago (perhaps for a hackathon or class) and forgotten about it.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, but I am unable to complete the process due to the following error message:
“Discount request could not be created. Discount request errors: [my academic email address] has already been used to obtain an academic discount on GitHub account(s).”
I only have one GitHub account and have not previously applied for or used any academic discount. It seems my university email address may have been incorrectly associated with another request, or there is a system error preventing my verification.
What could be the following steps to resolve this persisting issue?
Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards
