How are symlinked files handled

assuming that i have an image in path (relative to the library root) in directory dir_year/image.png and i want to make a symlink so that i also have character/image.png, how will that be handled by tag studio. will it either:

• ignore the symlink and only have 1 instance of the image
• have two separate instances of the image, despite technically being the same one in the file system

I've had some annoyances with this. I have tons of symlinks in my lib. To answer, TagStudio properly detects and previews them like normal files. HOWEVER, when you open the file/directory, it will open the REAL location, NOT the linked location.
